From August 14–18, 2022, twenty-one of us, our fellow Anthroposophists and friends, went on a trip to Torockó, organized by Dr. Huba Papp. Huba led the trip to a childhood friend, to a guesthouse he had visited for many years. After long excursions in the hills, we took a rest here, enjoying the hospitality of Aunt Kati.
During the five days we toured the countryside, walked in Torockó, Torockószentgyörgy, visited the Unitarian church, climbed the Székelykő, then climbed it the next day to watch the sunrise, hung on a rock in the Gorge of Remete, dipped in the cooling water of its river, admired the Gorge of Torda (we also splashed in its cooling water), had great conversations, ate well, looked at the stars, played, did eurythmy…

It was a rare experience of recharge for all of us, caused by the environment, the company and the place where we stayed. Heading home, we immediately felt the need to return, and then we learned that the Guesthouse will be sold shortly, as Aunt Kati can’t take care of it any longer due to her age, and her family won’t take over the operation from her.
First enthusiasm, then thought, and finally, a willingness to act arose among all the 21 participants, to provide our community with a space suitable for spiritual recharge, social connection, physical and spiritual renewal. We imagined that perhaps later, a similar opportunity of geographical recharge therapy might be beneficial for others. As the team expanded rapidly – consisting various professionals such as businessmens, engineers and skilled contractors – we realized that we might aim for a full-fledged hospitality business, laying down a strong foundation for an ultimately spiritual project.
Our goals regarding the house:
• The main goal is to attract those who think like us, so that a common space can be created which might strengthen not only the relationship between our community, but also the relationship between Anthroposophical circles – be it the teachers of a Waldorf school, its students, parents, eurythmists, artist, journalists, researchers, medical / therapeutical / pedagogy workers – Hungarian, Romanian, European, international organizations. This space can be used for parallel work – such as herbal plant processing, literary retreat, painting or recreation – but it can also be a shared space for relaxation, given the lush, nourishing environment and its need for spiritual inoculation. Connecting East and West.
• We hope that through connections and developments, the long-held idea of a significant Central European medical center could be realized here in the future.
• To maintain a place for ourselves and our families where meaningful recreation is possible.
